Back to Eden Garden - Weeds

The two questions I had about weeds from the documentary are these; "Will I have fewer weeds?" and "Will they be easier to pull?"

There are fewer weeds (by far).  I don't have a before and after for that though.

They are also easier to pull out.

Back to Eden Garden - prep

A co-worker of mine suggested I watch a documentary about gardening.  I really enjoyed it and decided to try the The Back to Eden garden.

Here is the mulch.

I used bark and a 'fertimulch' (tiny woodchips and organic matter) and mixed them together. The documentary suggested searching for free mulch, but I was lazy and bought it. For additional layers I intend to find a free source of mulch.

   It is 4 inches deep across my garden area. Digging down I noticed that the soil under the mulch was moist. This is exciting to me as I hope it will reduce the amount of water I need.

I believe it took 4 yards of mulch to get to this state and I applied it last September.

 Here it is prepped for planting. As instructed from the documentary, you want to dig down to the soil and plan there, not directly in the mulch.
